Aluminium vessels  : To remove burnt stains from the aluminium vessels    , rub it with a sandpaper . It will be as good as its newer counterpart.

Bananas     : To keep ripe bananas fresh , wrap in a wt cloth and keep in a plastic bag.

Distilled water : When defrosting your refrigerator , save all the melted water from the ice in the freezer , strain through a thick ,clean cloth and use it for car battery. This is cheaper than buying distilled water and is more pure.

Embroidery : While embroidering any white fabric , apply some talcum powder on your palms to keep the cloth clean while you work.

Gas stoves      : Clean gas stoves and kitchen slab surfaces with a mixture of equal quantities of coconut oil and kerosene , using a sponge.

Grease stains : Clean grease stains by rubbing the cloth soaked in kerosene or turpentine and wash off with reetha (soapnut). For imparting a shine , rub holy ash or vibhuti on the zari before ironing the sari.

Leather goods : For bringing back the shine to leather goods, rub a little vaseline on them and wipe with cotton wool.

Lipstick    : To mend a broken lipstick , join both the broken ends with a toothpick and store in the refrigerator for some time.

Lime stains    : To remove the lime stains or any other white colored stains from kitchen counters made of any stone , such as marble or black stone , apply some butter on the stains and leave on for a few hours. Wipe with a clean cloth and the stains would have been removed.

Pipes          : To clean the clogged pipes of the wash basin , pour a mixture of soda bi-carb and a cup of vinegar. Leave for an hour and flush with some water.

Sari           : Soak a handful of reetha overnight in six cups of water, mash with hand and strain the liquid , add one teaspoon of glycerine to it, soak the sari in it for about ten minutes. Rinse with cold running water, wrap it gently in a dry towel to soak water from it. Then dry it in shade.

Silk Zari sari : To two liters of water at lukewarm (or even a little less) temperature, add a teaspoon of common salt and stir well. To this add 50-80 ml of unleaded pterol . Soak your soiled silk zari sari in this solution for about half an hour. Where there are thick dust or stains , rub gently with a toothbrush, you can put toothpaste on the brush to give a clean , sparkling look to the zari.

Silver ware     : Place a camphor along with your silverware so that it does not tarnish easily.

Zari saris   : Soak reetha in water overnight and use the soapy solution to wash the zari saris . Rinse in cold water and dry in shade.

 

 

CASE STUDY : PERFUME

· Same perfume smells different on people’s diet. In case of peoples taking more spicy foods and undergoing the medicinal treatment, the aroma of these come out with the perfume and hence affects it.

· Lighter during day and harder by night is a no constraint but then cologne at work is better as you don’t leave a trail of heady scent. Enveloping fragrance is better if you are to make a statement by the evening.

· Do not be a gourmand , just spray four to five pulse points  on your body. Ideally wear it lower on your body. Fragrance tends to waft upwards. The décolletage  and your ribs are a good place. Don’t rub the perfume on your skin, it simply fast forwards and you don’t get to enjoy all the notes.

· Perfume is meant to be applied on the skin, allowing the heat on to body to work on it. Spraying on clothes stains them and you won’t enjoy it to its entirety.

· It is the first thing to wear and to apply it to hair, spray some on the comb and then comb your hair.

· Do not overdo it or it might be fatal to your social life and you might just end up sitting alone at a disco.

· Use the layering trick to last longer the effects felt. Use the shower gel of the same fragrance. Go neutral on moisturizer and then apply perfume.

· The shop life is 24 months. Heat, light, air and age are its biggest enemies. Bathroom is the worst storage area and refrigerator -a cool dry and dark place is the best place one. Perfumes must be kept in their bottles upside down. That way air doesn’t enter the bottle and ruin the fragrance.

Flossing Teeth :

Only brushing is doing half the job, you need to floss to finish it up. Flossing the perfectly aligned teeth is definitely arguable but it does help when the mouth is full of gaps. Flossing removes the plaque that grows in between your teeth that a toothbrush sometimes can’t. So, if you floss it is needless to worry about what you slide between your pearly whites. Experts do not miss out on offering a few tips on perfect flossing :

· Choose the right floss, it may be waxed or unwaxed, but it should not break into separate shreds,.

· Always wrap it between two fingers , so you won’t ‘strangle‘ your fingers.

· Make a C-shape around each tooth and slide the floss up and down between the teeth very slowly.

· Remember to be gentle while inserting the floss between your teeth and under the gum-line : flossing ., if not done properly can injure your gums.

· Floss only once a day , over doing can injure the gums.

All in a Hornet’s saliva : Drinking hornet’s saliva may not sound particularly appealing ,but many in Japan believe the insect fluid helped propel Olympic marathoner Naoko Takahashi to her gold medal victory at the Sydney Games in September, reports The Boston Globe. Amino acids taken from the saliva of the baby hornets improve physical endurance in humans. Developed by the Japanese biochemist Takashi Abe, this elixir is sold in Japan as high-tech sports drink called as vaam. Hornets fly a whopping 70 miles per day ,especially remarkable considering they weigh about 2 grams, making them one of the heaviest of al the flying insects. Unlike bees that feasts on pollen hornets eat other insects. Carrying them back to the nest adds another gram to their weight. Because of their constricted trunks ,adult hornets can’t eat their catch. Instead they feed it to their young larvae and then in a new twist on nursing , swallow the babies’ saliva. That is the source of the hornet’s strength.

But help is never far .just opt to have a lot of orange juice, or suck a lemon .These not only provide relief from your cold but also clear the skin. If the shoe fits : Podiatrists suggest a couple of tips when it comes to choosing the right sports shoes. Shop at the end of the day as your feet swell during the day and are the biggest in the evening. When you try on the shoes ,do some of the movements that you do while exercising. Also do not expect the shoes to be as comfortable as the old ones. But make sure your toes have enough room, your heel stays in place and that there’s enough room in the instep. Make sure that your foot fits comfortably and snugly in the foot bed. The insole has to be contoured to your foot. There should not be any bumps and ridges as they can cause blisters.
